It was announced by Ubisoft on November 20, The game was released for the Xbox and PlayStation 3 on March 18, , in North America and March 20, , in Europe, except in Germany, where the game was delayed. This game is also available for Xbox One via backward compatibility. Logan Keller, the lead character from the previous game, had been removed in favour of having the player create their own character to play through the campaign. The player assumes the role of Bishop, a member of the Rainbow squad with a great deal more experience who has a deeper involvement in the story. The game, billed as “part sequel, part prequel “, has events that run both before and concurrently to the story of Logan Keller and continue after where the first game concluded. In single-player, the developers claim to have vastly improved teammate AI , so that now teammates cover each other as they advance. There are also several new commands, for example, the ability of a teammate to throw a grenade at a specific point. Bishop is the main protagonist that the player controls and guides throughout the events of Rainbow Six: Vegas 2.

Overall, of the best multiplayer arenas I have experienced in a while. All in all, Splinter Cell Blacklist is a fantastic game that I would recommend to the hardcore.

September 5th, This entry once again features Sam Fisher as the protagonist, now heading up Fourth Echelon, and follows up from the events found in the last entry, Conviction. While the earlier reveals of Blacklist seemed to give some indication that this would be a more action focused title like its predecessor, I was happily surprised to find that stealth and covert action was alive and well here. Certain mechanics from Conviction do make the cut here, like the improved cover system that allows Sam to easily stick to cover and move between nearby objects in the environment without being spotted.

Enemy detection is also very similar, with a lot of focus given to staying within the shadows while sneaking about, something the series is certainly well known for.

I did a double take when I started the game and thought this was live action. The story in Conviction is very Splinter Cell. You will roughly follow it — Sam Fisher wants the truth about his daughter, and to hurt some bad guys. Wait, the president? You’re a what? This works well and has a satisfying conclusion. Although there is a slightly jarring design decision in a flashback mission relating to the character. The ending of the main arc is a little off though. The gameplay is where it shines though.

The sneaking, shooting and hunting is very fun. It gives you plenty of room for experimentation and alternate strategies.

Subtotal: items in your basket. Item limited to max quantity of Customer reviews are independent and do not represent the views of Zavvi. Presentation: One of the major new features in SC:C is the way in which major objectives are shown on the sides of buildings and on the environment, and this is a streamlined way of keeping the game flowing. A strange mechanic that drains the colour from the screen may seem innovative at first, but it turns the environment into a drab lifeless place, the exact opposite of what the game is trying to achieve.

The graphics aren’t the best on the system but do the job well. The voice acting and scripting could be improved upon, especially the enemy script, but the stroy is just about gripping enough to keep you interested and ignore some of the rough edges with the character models. Presentation is not this game’s strong point. The years old mechanics of staying in the dark and quiet infiltration are all in place here, and the wonderfully variated level design helps you to use all of you skills to their full potential.

The major new addition is the mark and execute system, which is balanced right so it doesn’t feel like a cheat but also doesn’t feel useless either. The guns are realistically unaccurate, although this makes every weapon that isn’t a pistol useless, and this combined with a lack of secondary ammo or silencers on most of the weapons leads to the player always relying on the trusty pistol.

Integrated in the game are series of challenges which earn you points to upgrade weapons, but you get enough points to upgrade your weapons of choice within a couple of levels, leaving no incentive to do any more challenges.

Splitscreen support: the best way to see two bad guys getting a beat-down at the same time. The co-op campaign stands on its own, both in length and entertainment. The story is less intricate than the single player mode, but the same great level design transfers over to co-op very well. Getting downed results in a second bleed-out where the downed player can either stay still or sit up with their pistol armed. Sitting up will grab enemies’ attention and risk a quick death, but can be very advantageous at times.

Some enemies can also put you in a chokehold, rendering you unarmed until your partner can save you. It’s great fun, and two players confident with the controls can perform some awesome gameplay moments. The other co-op modes are basically extensions of the co-op campaign, using the same maps – good for short matches with high replayability. Best of all: all of the co-op modes support matchmaking. Splinter Cell: Conviction sits right alongside my copy of Army of Two: The 40th Day – ask me to join you in a two-player co-op campaign, and I’ll be equally pleased to suggest either one.

With only two-player co-op modes, it doesn’t top the list of co-op friendly games, but in terms of general value: I’m a fan.

Co-Op matchmaking

It allows two players to play together through a separate campaign compared to the single player campaign, or non-campaign modes in certain maps. Typically, the two campaigns will relate to each other in story; how much they relate depends on the game. While the stories relate to the single player mode, the missions are structured differently and have different objectives for both players to complete.

Both players can participate in Briggs’ story-based 4E missions, or work together in other missions that are not particularly story-based.
